  • A fashion trend that surely everyone in the western world must of noticed is the large number of tattoos people are getting. Hell there are even television shows based on tattoos these days (I am thinking of you Miami Ink). On the runway tattoos generally are still a no-no but look to any sporting field or social setting and tattoos are everywhere. Now fashion is an industry usually dominated by the majority opinion, and as we know its an industry that changes often. Where tattoos fit into this is still somewhat of an unknown although I have my hunches. Because the tattoo is permanent, unwavering and a reflection of a single point of time, I believe they will always be a fringe element of fashion...

  • Yesterday I wrote a post on dermatology for proper skin care. Whilst researching the topic I came about an incredibly interesting new treatment for skin cancers. It’s a non invasive treatment using high frequency radiation for the elimination of tumors. Its known as brachytherapy. A brachytherapy dermatologist is a trained medical professional who will minituarized x-ray source to deliver extremely conformal and accurate high-dose radiation to the skin cancer. This accuracy means that the normal tissue around the cancer suffers no damage. The practise has been heavily tested with one test showing 100% success rates. In the test 53 patients were treated and results were as follows: In all treated cases, an apparent clinical remission occurred in approximately 3 months, and complete healing was obtained...

  • A slightly off topic post, but still important in the fashion/beauty game. I have a personal friend who was having trouble with “acne” and tried everything. Pro-Active, Clearasil, salt treatment, lemon treatment, no treatment, she really did try a lot of things. Eventually she bit the bullet and went to see a dermatologist. Now we all know how important and how beautiful naturally smooth and clear skin is. But its suprising how few of us turn to the medical profession for help, we seem to be captivated by the self-help, tv deal type of skin treatment. My friends visit to the dermotologist proved fruitful, mainly in identifying the skin issues as not being related to acne and hormones. After a couple of months my friends...

  • Hobo Style Bags are 2012’s biggest accessory trend. Originally popularized my Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the twin duo being huge fans of the bags, and incorporating them into their fashion line early on, the bag has gone to another level this year with many appearances in recent fashion shows, as well as a few well documented sightings on celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Joss Stone. At a recent fashion show in London Stella McCartney was using the Hobo Bag in quite a few of her designs. She used the bag to accessorise some of her flowing spring dresses, and two piece suits. It is reported that in Sass & Bide’s upcoming show in Sydney, that they have also turned to the Hobo Bag as...

  • Looking good and feeling great are synonymous with the world of fashion. There’s one aspect of fashion that everyone possesses. It’s something that everyone can wear and it’s not an item of clothing. It’s not a pair of shoes, piece of jewellery, belt, hat or other accessory. This universal attribute is worn on your face and is an object of great beauty. Quite simply, it is a stunning smile. Everyone can relate to wanting a great smile. A smile can light up a room, cheer up a friend and attract the attention of that special someone. There are many elements to a gorgeous smile but perhaps none so important as the look of your teeth whilst in the act. Yellow, crooked, chipped or missing teeth...

  • Camouflage is the act of concealing yourself within the surrounds of your environment by mimicking the appearance of the terrain. However, camouflage isn’t solely confined to the survival of species or to soldiers of war. It has transferred to the worlds of art and fashion and can be commonly seen in patterns and designs throughout many mediums. Despite what you may believe, Andy Warhol, Hip Hop, or the likes of Bape aren’t responsible for pioneering the use of camouflage prints and military style in fashion and popular culture. The history of Camo in fashion dates back almost a century to the first World War and involves Modernism and gender equality. Parisian couturiers used military wear when taking on industrial roles in factories vacated by men...
